You need to find out the cause and then act accordingly to revive the dead notebook.

The first reason for a notebook to become dead can be due to ineffectiveness of battery. Try to plug in to an AC source and see the battery power. If the notebook functions well when connected to AC source it indicates the weakness of battery to supply power to the laptop. While dealing with the battery to revive the battery notebook, please deal delicately so that there is no risk of any hazard. If you wish to dispose it, dispose it the way it is instructed or sent it to some scrap house where they dispose it according to bio-friendly manners.

The startup problem could be second reason for a dead notebook. Unplug the laptop and remove the battery. This cuts the power supply and the notebook immediately shuts down. Let the notebook cool down for an hour or so. Then insert the battery and check it. If there is problem in starting again, perhaps the windows or the vista or any operating system in it got crashed and you need to reload it.

The notebooks are very delicate and they tend to become more prone to dead due to some sort of mishandling and bump. But in general the problem of hardware and software can be the cause of such dead nature. You can regain the dead state of the Notebook again just taking careful measures of finding the problem and applying adequate solution.
