Thread: Suggest me good configuration for a laptop!

Hi people,

I am facing a dilemma selecting the best combination of hardware for my laptop. I want a laptop that can run softwares like Solidworks, ANSYS and some other analysis softwares. But apart from this I also may use my laptop for occassional gaming, watching movies etc.

I configured a laptop , DELL costing 74K Rs.
Config:
2nd Gen Intel Core i7 2740QM 2.4GHz boost to 3.5 GHz
6 GB DDR3 1333Mhz SDRAM
Nvidia GT540M GPU, 2GB
750 HDD , 7200 rpm

Is this config good enough or I must change it. I need your viewpoint. Also Mac is a no go as i read Mac Users review over running these software on a MAc using Boot Camp and it wasn't satisfactory. Hoping for an early reply.

it is currently out of stock at flipkart but you can directly contact asus.they have showrooms in major cities.

I compared the specs....
1. Core i7 2640 qm is not a good i7 processor. It may have the name of i7 but it is as good as an i5.
2. No operating system, just dos.
3. I need the keyboard with back light.
4. 750 gb hdd with 5400 rpm is not good.

I appreciate ur help, help me a bit more. And money is no prob, 75k is the budget.

this is a good configuration & dell after sales service is also good.one thing to remember is dell laptops can only be charged with their own adapter only.if you try another adapter laptop will simply refuse to charge the battery giving error"unrecognized adapter/charger"so take good care of adapter & its cable.
