    Default Laptop produces strange noices..

    Hi there,
I have a Dell Inspiron N5030..It has been producing strange noises since last wednesday. The noice appears when I place it on some plastic or hard material like wood. When I keep it on bed, it disappears. It starts suddenly and stops suddenly. If anyone has any suggestions , please tell..Thanks In advance...

    Dell Inspiron N5030.
You should check the spelling in title/text .
    How old is the laptop.?
When did you do defrag last ?

Should I be worried about these weird noises my laptop is making? - dell laptop e1405 | Ask MetaFilter

In Power Save mode the hard drive spins down to save power. In Performance Mode the drive is fed full power, and the platers rotate at normal speed.

    1. Spellings are correct to the best of my knowledge.
    2. I bought this laptop from a local distributor in December, last year (2010).
    3. I never defragmented it because analysis with Windows disk defragmentor shows that it doesn't need it.(3% fragmentation on C81% free) , D: and E: are empty).Total HD = 232.88 GB

After reading the link given I defragmented the C: drive . NOw it's 0% fragmented. "Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate Edition. RAM 2GB. 32 bit OS "

    Reason of problem:
    Microphone boost became high

    Solution:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Sound > Recording > Microphone > Properties
    2. Click on levels tab.
    3. Move the microphone boost slider to zero.
    4. Click on Apply , then OK .

This helped me solve my problem.
