Default 2-in-1 laptops - the new age computers.

Now it is the time for 2-in-1 laptops, which can be used as laptops and tablets. It is a fact that laptops are gradually replacing desktops everywhere, be it home or office. The portability factor of laptops is definitely an edge over desktops. Then laptops are also facing competition from tablets which are ultra portable and at the same easy to store and use. Now laptops have taken a new shape in the form 2-in-1 laptops. This is becoming one the fastest growing trend in computer market.

It is quite easy to convert a laptop to a tablet, just detach the keyboard dock from the laptop and use the touch screen as a tablet. It becomes a fully functional stand alone tablet.

In future if you go for a new laptop, would you mind buying a 2-in-1 model?

In the future, it will be a basic feature on future laptops. Today, this feature became the laptop more expensive. But 2-in-1 laptop does not offer the same experience as a tablet obviously. I am still prefer a tablet to 2 in 1 laptop.

If its durable and if I can afford it, I won't hesitate. There is already one available in my area but it is very expensive. I will definitely buy one if the price will drop. I know Windows 8 were meant for these tablets.

That is really amazing. So 2-in-1 laptops are cheaper than the regular laptops, right. Can you suggest some good models under 12 or 15k?

The most attractive thing in 2-in-1 laptop is its ultra portability I think and as it is touch screen friendly we can use it even without a key board. But I wonder where the battery is located, is it in the screen panel? Otherwise, when we detach it from the key board how it will work?

If it is so cheap as @panchabhut has mentioned, I would love to buy one, but if it is durable enough. I am sure a large number of brands are going to play this card now as there is a high demand for 2-in-1 laptops.

2 in 1 laptops are still not as powerful as a regular laptop. If it was as powerful as a regular laptop I would buy it but since it is not i will save my money until they make it as powerful as a regular laptop.

Micromax Canvas Laptab LT666 10.1-inch with Intel Atom Z3735F, 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD, Windows 10, builtin 3G SIM slot and WiFi is regularly available at less than 12K on many online shopping sites.
It good enough for normal browsing, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations etc.

That is a good strategy I would say. Sooner or later 2-in-1 laptops are going to beat the normal laptops and tablets in performance and portability. It would be better to buy a model then. No other device can replace a 2-in-1 laptop for its unmatched portability, comfort level and ease of use. If companies can do something on its performance too, it could be a real winner in computing field.

As I already said, I have seen the ad of an iBal 2-in-1 laptop which has a slot for hard disk drive and without out hard disk it costs around Rs.15000/- ($250). The hard disk designed for these laptops are ultra slim.

I just wish they will eventually get cheaper. I mean regular laptops are still more pricey than the low end Android tablets that I can buy for 2500 rupees. In my Area a 2 in 1 laptop is around 25 thousand rupees to 40 thousand rupees.

@cashewfruit_wine You are absolutely right! The most important factor of it will be its price. Though regular laptops are still pricey, so I guess this one could be priced way more than regular ones and would be out of reach for many like me.

2 in 1 laptops are more expensive than regular laptops but I hope this leads to prices of regular laptops to decrease. It will only happen though if these over priced 2 in 1 laptops will become a high demand product. At this moment low end Android tablets are still cheaper but sadly they lack in the durability department.

But I don't think 2-in-1 laptops are highly priced. Most of them are cheaper than laptops, but a 2-in-1 model with a hard disk could cost you more. Yes, you are right that now the laptop manufactures will be forced to cut down their prices when 2-in-1 laptops take over the charge. I am sure in future we can see better 2-in-1 laptops with high performance features to beat the laptops. To survive, the laptops have to either reduce their prices significantly or come up with another innovative feature.

I just wonder what could be the next one in computers? Desktops, laptops, tablets, 2-in-1 laptops and what could be the next one?
