    Default Which laptop do you use

    I have a Packard bell easy note which I bought back in 2003 and its still working very well after all those years of hard work.. I have even used it to run torrents for about 6 months 24/7 in UK and still no issues..

    Its still got the orignal battery and everything and the backup time is still well over two hours after 5 years

    The only thing I have ever had to change in this laptop was the hard drive which was a 80 gb one and now I have a 120gb hard drive in it.

    The model no is :Easynote M5265

    It was pretty costly back then and I got it for 1399 British pounds back then which is about Rs115000 Indian... You can get a laptop with same config now at about Rs30-40k I guess.

    It was money well spent and I am not going to dump it for may be another year or so

    I would love to hear from you which laptops do you use and how do you find them..

    Hi,

    I have two laptops.

    • An HP Pavilion ze4100 - Used by many. In the end came to me, because no one can make any use of it. Still I use it when every other PC/laptop fails.
    • An Esys G320 model - Bought it for 17.5K last November. Upgraded the memory to 1GB from original 256MB for 2.5K. For 20K, it gave great performance until last month. Battery backup went very low. I sent it to esys for a replacement. In the mean time, on a fantastic Friday evening, it went to hell without informing me. It didn't even start. So I sent it to esys. More than 10 days over until now. Yet to get it back. I have to admit, when it was alive, it did a perfect job for me.

    Now I'm using a powerful Desktop PC (with Ubuntu) for productivity. (I know it's off-topic).

    ~~~ Pothi ~~~
    I don't own a laptop. My office had given my IBM R-40 (or something) 4 years earlier. It had 40GB HDD and 512 MB RAM and Celeron-M as processor. It has been replaced by Lenovo R60 last year. This one is 80GB HDD, 1 GB RAM and powered by Centrino Duo.
    Lenovo and Dell are good for business needs. Most corporates have only these two brands.
    HP/Compaq, Sony, etc. are good for home/multimedia use.
    Thumbs up
    As for me, I am using Compaq Presario C700 family. It is quite good for me. The look is nice. However, the problem with having Compaq laptop is that they do not provide motherboard driver. But I still love it.::stuart:
    I have Dell Inspiron 1525 with 4GB RAM and 250GB HDD. Till now I am having pleasant experience with Dell. In my office all desktops are from Dell. Don't know why r_moyal is against it.
    I personally use a Sony Vaio which I have been very happy with. It came with Windows Vista and I wiped it out and put linux on it. Great software.
    i think the topic of the thread .. as admin posted it is which laptop u use.. not the problems associated with it.. it will be better if u make a new thread for your query regarding ram.. and as far as i know...
    after putting additional ram.. either a cd will be there .. configuring the details of your new ram.. for all company different.. and if not,,, lets see wat ohter ppl say.. abt it
    I own a HP DV 6000 series Notebook with 1Gb Ram (Expanded to 2Gb now), 160gb HardDisk, Webcam, Microphone, Alteclansing speakers, DVD Writer. And a nice black wave design on outer cover makes it very good looking. I won it from June 2007.
    I also have a Dell laptop, and i strongly recommend anyone wanting to get a new laptop to go for Dell, it is very reliable and so far i haven't had any problems with it.
    I've Acer Aspire 5920 (Intel's Santa Rosa Compliant)... I recommend to go for Acer if u want a robust laptop... Especially if u use a laptop like a desktop...
    I keep my laptop running for 24*7 for last 6 months... No issues... doesn't heat up like HP...
    Support all over India is good... Normally, it takes 10 days max. to get it replaced, if therez a problem in warranty period... If u r near banglore... It will not take more than a week...
    If u've extra money... don't go for any brand except Dell... but if u want something that is value for money... go for Acer...
