    Thumbs up Ubuntu 8.10 Release

I lately found that Ubuntu is about to release the new version Ubuntu, the full version is about to be released on October 30th...This version is called Intrepid Ibex 8.10....
In case you want to upgrade to the available Beta version from current Hardy to this version,Follow the below steps----->
press Alt+F2 and type in "update-manager -d" (without the quotes) into the command box.
Update Manager should open up and tell you: New distribution release '8.10' is available.
Click Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions.

Significance of Release----->I had been wondering what might be the significance of these numbers in versions,But it is only after i saw this i realized that 8.04(2008 April Release),8.10(2008 October release)

vibes thats a very comical post ...read it again yourself

Well version numbers are given to all new softwares/increments (updates) ..... to keep track of and document all the changes being made to the software ....it is a part of professional software development process

    Second post vibes
oh ...you met it that way ....hmmmm ..interesting

x.04 versions are LTS (Long time support)

Ubuntu is designed with security in mind. You get free security updates for at least 18 months on the desktop and server. With the Long Term Support (LTS) version you get three years support on the desktop, and five years on the server. There is no extra fee for the LTS version, we make our very best work available to everyone on the same free terms. Upgrades to new versions of Ubuntu are and always will be free of charge.......

    x.10 versions are mid-term releases...

and each ubuntu version is named from A-Z...like dapper, edgy, fiesty fawn,gutsy,hardy,...next ibex..next jacklope...

You can download it from the following link..
Choose your location and download it..
    Download Ubuntu | Ubuntu
Browse the same site if you want to get the Ubuntu Cd Shipped to you for free
It usually takes 15 days for the arrival..You Might consider downloading it..
