No , I only exactly did what i posted early ..........

U think it ll work ?

I am collecting all ideas now ... so shoot if u have any .. then i ll boot after 20 mins and try out all in ubuntu .......

Don't know, You can give it a try ?

1. Install http://code.google.com/p/msify/ instead of original client.
2. Try the above method.

ok

I also tried sudo pppoconfg [or something like that ]

Ubuntu tried to configure my ethernet card but failed

....Its detecting it though

Gonna try out .............Booting out , over and out

I browsed somr other sites .... my error is def related to ssl thingy ..... and they say cable guy's sol will work 90 %

i read somewhere..that u've to personally ask sify people for some gateway or something...so that they'l bypass u..

It tried to contact sify server and failed......this is what i did

-->Boot into Ubuntu
Already BB Client had been installed

Executed the following

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8 /usr/lib/libssl.so.4
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.4
sudo sifyconnect

Result

Unable to reach Sify Access Manager, Contact Customer Care ...

Also noticed that My Lan server was being shown as disconnected

Is your LAN network setup correctly in Ubuntu? Check your network settings in Windows, try using the same settings in Ubuntu.

I tried executing

sudo pppoeconf

It detected two Ethernet devices

Then i clicked Ok

it started loading and displayed the messege

I think i need a driver .... I discovered that my network is disconnected .... Ubuntu's network manager was unable to configure my network ...... Looks like it need a driver

Archer Dont Hide yourself when you login .... iwant to know when your online .... need some doubts cleared

Nothing will work until i set up my network ......... My ethernet card is not configured and Ubuntu is unable to do it

It was My Network Card which was not properly configured

After 3 days of tedious trouble shooting i finally got it right .........

Pingu Mod .... now i am officially a linux user too

You don't nee to install Alien for any reason. For installing display drive see 2nd post.
