    Now i have to go around searching for Drivers to all my hardware .... First Nvidia

    Do i need to install Alien Now ??

    You don't nee to install Alien for any reason. For installing display drive see 2nd post.

    Did you installed sound card in Ubuntu ? Then maybe you can help me with something. I couldn't install sound card in Ubuntu.

    I don't think, that will be any problem. My problem is that I don't know the model number of my Sound Card. It's an 'Enter' sound card with creative chip. I tried everything I can to make it work. Now I am using in-built sound card. But it have compatibility issues with my Mic.

    One more problem .......

    It keeps forgetting the settings each time i enter Ubuntu , i must enter the ip address , subnet mask , gateway etc to connect to the network

    u require alien only to convert rpm into deb packages...so forget about now...once u have internet in ubuntu...u can get anything from there...

    Now i have got Graphic driver problems

    system -->Administration-->Hardware Drivers

    Nvidia Accelarated graphic driver version 177 is nt getting installed ???

    It tries to download the package and then quits at 0%

    I manually downloaded a 32 bit driver from nvidia site which does nt get installed

    Any ideas ??

    I had to try 2-3 times before the display driver installed.

    Try this. Right Click desktop and select change background option. And got to the effects tab. Then select normal or the other option. You will be asked to install driver.

    Its trying to install the old 173 version driver .... i have got driver 178 downloaded manually[but not installing]

    BTW Mine is 32 bit os rite ?

    Linux Display Driver - x86

    This is the one i am trying to install

    This is the msg i get

    I solved the problem ..........

    sudo aptitude install nvidia-glx-177

    it ll ask for ur os cd ...........

    and install from there :lol:

    And i was trying to download

    BTW
    What theme are you using ??
