    I was searching for some themes. But never found any compatible ones. I am looking for a black glossy one with white text.

    You can enable these effects in Compiz. I don't use the other options but you can play with it to get something good.

    Right click on desktop and click Change Desktop Background.

    That's a login manager theme. Do you want to install it or just the wallpaper ?

    I have no idea how themes works.

    BTW. There are some cool widgets called screen-lets in Ubuntu. You can also install many other. Did you tried it ?

    Can any s/w meant for ubuntu be run on kubuntu provided it i am sure its for KDE.

    I'm also searching for an app(GUI if possible) which i can use to connect my modem to net thru bridge mode.

    And while d/l wine , i found a d/l for windows platform.... i jus don't get it ... whats its use in windows ?

    yea bsnl , i'm using utstar200r2 (pretty old model) modem.

    I cannot access most websites in PPPoE modem, otherwise i would'nt bother config in ubuntu..

    nope man, and wat i meant in previous post is that the PPPoE mode does not work properly in any OS, even windows, and its not a modem config problem as well.

    oh...configure ur modem in bridge mode...then type sudo pppoeconf..in ur terminal and follow the instructions

    Default Sify dialer disconnects after 10-25 min

    Hye Guyz,
    I've installed Ubuntu 8.10 and configured sify dialer on it.
    The dialer is able to connect to Sify and i'm able to surf the net.
    But the dialer keeps disconnecting after 10-15 min.
    Has anyone else faced this problem ?
