Rep Power: 1 | Broadband details: --------------------- Plan: BSNL Home UL 750+ Download speed: 256kbps Modem: UT300R2U OS Details: ------------- Ubuntu 8.10 What's my problem: ----------------------- there is frequent power-cuts in my location. So every time there is a power-cut I have to manually restart the connection using the command: "sudo pon dsl-provider" I configured the connection using "sudo pppoeconf" In windows xp; in the connection manager there is a option - "Redial if line is dropped" so even if there was a power-cut it retried automatically to connect and when power was back on connection was established automatically. I use torrents so this feature was a dream in xp. But in ubuntu it isnt like that. So is there anything I can do to automate this process. Anything tips/tweaks/hacks/almost any help is appreciated. EXTRAS: ---------- I'm a noob to linux but I am comfortable to the terminal so any geek feel free to express the way u like. |

| Can't we use PPPoE so that there is no need for dialer. When your modem is switched on you are connected to internet through LAN. |

Rep Power: 1 | As suggested by meetdilip try pppoe instead of bridge. OR you can have a a cron job to connect every half an hour or every hour. |
