Default Redialing BSNL PPPoE in Ubuntu 8.10

Broadband details:
---------------------

Plan: BSNL Home UL 750+
Download speed: 256kbps
Modem: UT300R2U

OS Details:
-------------

Ubuntu 8.10

What's my problem:
-----------------------

there is frequent power-cuts in my location. So every time there is a power-cut I have to manually restart the connection using the command:

"sudo pon dsl-provider"

I configured the connection using "sudo pppoeconf"

In windows xp; in the connection manager there is a option - "Redial if line is dropped" so even if there was a power-cut it retried automatically to connect and when power was back on connection was established automatically.

I use torrents so this feature was a dream in xp. But in ubuntu it isnt like that.

So is there anything I can do to automate this process.

Anything tips/tweaks/hacks/almost any help is appreciated.

EXTRAS:
----------

I'm a noob to linux but I am comfortable to the terminal so any geek feel free to express the way u like.

Can't we use PPPoE so that there is no need for dialer. When your modem is switched on you are connected to internet through LAN.

Default Problem solved

while configuring using "sudo pppoeconf" the stage when the screen for "POPULAR OPTIONS" pops up I selected "no" and it is fine.

As suggested by meetdilip try pppoe instead of bridge. OR you can have a a cron job to connect every half an hour or every hour.
