    Default Ubuntu Live + Vmware

    Hi
Am totally new at this, needed help....
Am downloading Ubuntu Live CD and already have VMware
    Have Ram 4GB

(1.)What i wanted to know was whether to use Ubuntu Live CD
(2.)Whether to install VMWare and install ubuntu in this Virtual Machine

Which is a better option, what are the adv and disadv of both options, will installing VMWare and than ubuntu (second option) lead to wastage of space.
    What should i do

No need to use VMware in this case. And that amount of RAM is more than enough to use Ubuntu.
And, you can first test out the OS before installing it because it is a Live CD. And, if you want to install it without making a separate partition for it, you can install it "inside" your Windows partition. Just insert the CD in your drive after (or mount it using any software like Daemon Tools) you download it, and you will get most of the idea about it yourself. Ubuntu is/will be really easy to handle, as well as install.

Now, using Wubi installer, you can install Ubuntu right inside Windows as any other program, uninstall if you don't like it, without any problems like grub etc.

    I already downloaded Ubuntu
mounted the image, when i clicked the virtual image drive letter it opens up in another window explorer "windows", where i see a wubi.exe file,
Do i double click that file to run the Live CD

When i doubled click gives me 3 options
    (1.)Demo and full installation
    (2.)Install inside Windows

Which is the option to choose to run the CD Live without installing.

in order to run it as a live cd ... you ll have to boot from outside windows .... change the Bios option "boot priority" to boot from cd/dvd drive and then save and restart

wubi is the windows based installer

    Hi
My first foray into Linux....as i had already installed VMWare before this thread, i decided to install ubuntu inside VMWare....so created a virtual machine and installed ubuntu inside this virtual machine, was able to connect to net too, only had some problem with password for update manager but found a tut. after googling....solved it. Trying to get a partition done to separate ubuntu OS from personal folders......

Welcome to community mate, i know your query already got some satisfactory answers but just want to say something here:
For newbies the best idea is to use Wubi installer as its easy to understand and gives minimum confusion and problems

Second, you can simple use Live CD to install OS on your system, it is the second easy way to install OS on your system.

I understand that still there are lot many other ways to install it on system but I can suggest only these two ways.
