Thread: Ubuntu 8.10 issues

I am still using Ubuntu 8.10 ... planning to use it till Koala is released , but off late Ubuntu 8.10 is getting buggier with every new update ... had some issues with web browsers that i managed to fix but now i have a new problem

The media player that i use in linux Totem player does nt seem to play videos properly . I have had no problems before , this appeared suddenly . Now every time i attempt to play a video the picture simply freezes in the middle while the audio keeps running .... i can unfreeze it by moving the seek tab but it freezes after a few minutes again ... i thought the problem might be with the video but i was able to play it well on windows .....and after some testing found out that off late totem has not been able to play any video properly .

What might be the problem ?

Its known issues with totem so i suggest you to use VLC player on your ubuntu.

To install VLC on ubuntu go to Terminal and use this command

sudo apt-get install vlc

after this you can find it under Applications>>Sound & Video.
