As far as I know there are none except you have mentioned(pidgin) what is the problem you are facing with Gtalk in pidgin.

PS: I have never used im client ever but I know what is going on.

Do this in advanced when you add your account:-
Force old (port 5223) SSL: Checked
Allow plaintext auth over unencrypted streams: Un-Checked
    Connect Port: 443
    Connect Server: talk.google.com
Proxy type: Use Global Proxy Settings

PS: Miranda is not available natively for Linux.

two weeks late but check en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_instant_messaging_clients out. I have been using Pidgin ever since I started using Linux(FC). Absolutely no problems at all with Google and Yahoo ID. Just install pidgin, put your ID and password, no changes required.

IMO: pidgin is the best IM client for Linux OS, it can connect all of your messangers in one go and can show all contacts in single window. I am really satisfied with its performance

Is InstantBird from Mozilla ? I didn't see the product in Mozilla website. I read it from Softpedia that it uses Mozilla rendering engine.

InstantBird looks like Google Talk's skeleton or I didn't install it properly. Just look at the options. There is no settings page, context menu or notification/tray icon available. It's easy to setup accounts though.
