Default What have you done to secure your system?

This thread I have created to know what people are doing to secure their linux distros. A blingblang linux distro with no security set is not safer than windows.

Tell me what have you done. I might give advie if i find your security inadequate & wew will learn through this as I also don't know many things.

The concept is totally different in *nix except root user all other users will have write access to only their home folder. Normal user cannot do any change to the system. Distros like mandriva will not allow root user to log into x-window, all the menus will be disabled.

I have a personal firewall with no service enabled to remote system/user.

Have disabled most of the open ports that can easly be detected using the tools available. Constantly run the firestarter that mostly detects the intrusion or for that matter any traffic analyzer can be used but the information that it devulges is overwhelming.
Peruse the log file(s).

PS:- Lock and key are for gentlemen not theives...

But you can easily start use nautilus by typing sudo nautilus.

Or a full blown xwindows.
startx in fedora by first
typing
init 3
