Default Setting up own Web Server?

Hi all. This is my first post.
I'm using Dataone 750 UL+ Plan. My router model is D-Link DSL 2640T. What I want to ask is that under my plan, is it legal to set up my own web server in my home ?
If yes, then could you guys give me a complete walkthrough as how should I go about setting up a web server through my router ? I'm using PCLinuxOS 2009.2 as the OS.

    Thanks!

Please post in LINUX forum also

    Check this website.
    http://downloads.jlbn.net/mysql_gui.html

    Try in SEARCH box above
"set a web server" without quotes
    for old threads.

The upload speed of your server will be less than
Max 32KB/sec ( Not possible) and average say 5 to 10 KBsec.
You may have to change over to a Higher speed plan.
Not recommended by BSNL and they will not entertain any complaints. See FAQ

    I found these threads:
http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...static-ip.html (setting up web server using static IP)
    and
http://www.indiabroadband.net/web-ho...eb-server.html (Help needed regarding my own Web Server)

Is it legal to set up your own webserver?

Your ISP would be the first one to raise a fingue so best to check with them and also find out if you require a license to do so as in some countries you have to get government permission.

I personally think it is a complete waste of time because you get web hosting extremely cheap these days and don't even have to worry about the server because your web host would look after the server saving you a lot of time.

In India there is no need to get a license for web server as it ISP dependent most of the cases in BSNL they block the ports and one thing is that BSNL providing 85% connection with dynamic ips and with dynamic ip's hosting a web server is very painful if you host also then your most of the ports will be blocked like 80, 8080, 9090, 25, 110, 990, 465 etc..

in business plans only few having static options were it is possible but BSNL gives you 65, 129, 175 series which is mainly given on broadband and these all series are blacklisted ip series. BSNL only gives you above 200 series in Lease lines these series are specially uses by hosting providers and other content providers these IP are reserved for lease line connection.

If you really want to start your own web hosting service then you need a lease line connectivity with connection bonding min two ISP required.

    this is just for information.....

    Hi,

It is best to host your website with good hosting company, unless you have loads of websites to host , then you should think about going into this.
Also when hosting it with a professional company, you dont have to worry about anything, they will take care of everything.
also quality hosting services are available for affordable prices.
