Tell me whether you have eth interface configured. Type :
    ifconfig

It will show all the interface configured.

Also you will need a dhcp installed? Type this:
    dhcp

If you have them then open this:
    dhcpcd eth0

Your net should start working if not then tell me.

Which exe file you want to run? If you can give me its name I might be able to better tell it if there's any trick to run it.

Dear friend, linux is not recommended for gaming. If you are a gamer, stick to windows. As far as other software is concerned, most fullfledged linux distros such as fedora, mandriva, suse, centos, etc come with almost everything needed. For e.g OpenOffice for office application, Firefox for web browsing, mplayer/dragon player for media player, K3B for dvd burning, ktorrent/transmission for bitorrent client, gimp for graphic manupulation, etc, etc. I don't think I can list out everything here. If you have any specific need other than games which you are not able to use, you can post here so that myself or somebody can help.

If you really interested in using linux as your primary OS and want to play games occasionally, the is wine available, it will not support everything but many windows software can be installed and used with wine. I am a full time linux user more than a year now. I still use few windows software using wine as there are no alternatives in linux for the same.

Well you need to install nm(network manager and dhcp client), you can additionally setup auto dhcp in network settings
