Default How to apply a patch

If you are using linux many a time you will get solutions from users term as patch file or just written in their post. In bugs solving patches you always get solutions as patch. Release solutions come much later. If you are in need now you will have to know how to apply a patch.
    What is a patch?
A patch is a file written to update a file or directories with the one by removing or adding or replacing some part of file.

If a patch is given for a file then:
Goto the path /usr/src if it is relative to it
    cd /usr/src
    Write :
    patch -p0 < /patch/file/path

If it is not then you will have to open it See which file they are patching and search that file and issue the above command. For more info type: man patch. It will display all the options available for it.
    Patch not working?
    patch -R < /patch/file/path
    It remove the patch
