Thread: Mplayer and other media players

Now there are many media player available for Linux unlike old time. But some are not included by default as they contains proprietary pluggins. Some of them are:
1.Mplayer: This is one of the most power full media player. It can decode or encode many of the formats using its companion Mencoder. Also you can do many things like flip image stream image. Some of the other bells and whistles. It can play nearly all formats even some obscure one.GPU acceleration is supported. With its frontend it has all the features you will need. It is command line but you will have to use skin or frontends. You are going to be surprised by its resource consumption.
2.Totem player: It is the default player. It is quite simple and minimalistic.
3.VLC player: It is another good player but limited in capability in comparison to mplayer.
4.Xine/kaffine: It is based on xine library. You can skip trailers and ads while using it as it uses libdvdcss and is not member of DVD forum.

Why missing Fluendo, Dragon, Movie player, etc?

Linux is for all crap machines which cannot run "civilized" operating systems..

it is not priviliged to have any good applications to run on it.. some crappy developers are wasting their time into it..

I have not said a word till now. Whatever you say I challenge you to produce a better player than Kmplayer.
Linux is the most secure and the best OS ever made if compare to windows.

Try to run any good applications you will know what type of crap your OS is.

What Linux has better than Windows as I do not want security..........
