Default Latest version of all Linux based OS?

I am planning to install a Linux based OS, but I don't know which one is better and how to get it. So, I need your advice about this. What is latest version of Linux based OS, Ubuntu, Fedora, Kubuntu, Kali Linux etc. If you are currently using any of these OS, just tell me one thing which you liked most in your OS

there are two types of release. one is the latest stable release and the other is the latest beta release. for regular user, the latest stable release is better. you will find both versions in respective websites of the different flavours of linux.
if you are moving from windows, then I would suggest to stick to Xubuntu or Lubuntu. you can download the ISO from their website, write the image to a pendrive, boot from pendrive and install.

CUrrently I?m using the Lubuntu 15.04 if I'm not mistaken, and it's pretty good and light! I achieve better performance in my laptop when using the Lubuntu rather than the Windows 8.1. It's very similar to Windows in terms of interface and very user friendly, it has some nice features like the console, where you can do almost everything, for example if you need to download some program and isntall it, in lubuntu you just need to type a couple commands on the console and it'll do everything for you while you watch :P

I have a very old pc, it must be 10 years old, it used Windows XP, I installed on it Lubuntu 15.10 and it works just like the very first day I bought it. I'm so happy with Lubuntu 😀

Just like me and my laptop!

I installed Lubuntu because of my college, and I found it a lot better in terms of performance than Windows 8.1, currently I only use Windows for gaming. Browsing the internet, programming reading PDF's and stuff like that I always do it on my Lubuntu. And there are also some games that I managed to install on Lubuntu and they have better performance than in Windows 8.1, gladly I'm going to have a new Desktop soon and I will be able to use Windows 10 at it's max potential!

Can try "Elementary OS", very light and runs pretty well .
Tested a few and liked this one to put it on external drive and run.
