| I suggest dont go for books internet is enough for reading through books. What you should do is try speaking in hindi with some friends or some one like that even if you dont know how to talk in that you try to talk in hindi only this is the fast way to learn any language... If you dont know what to sy for a particular word then ask your friend what it is called as.. once he tells that continue that sentence in hindi only dont leave it... at first it may feel funny but soon you will start to understand & learn.... |

| The best chance you have now is IPL. Watch it. The commentary is in both Hindi & English and you will be able to understand what they are saying. Note the words they use when they talk to each other. Common words repeat often. Also try watching Hindi movies. Begin with Guru & Dilse which are already available in Tamil. Rep Power: 10 | Watch Hindi news channels, bollywood movies etc. Speak in Hinglish rather than hindi for a start... That will be easier... You can also consult books or online tutorials if you want to learn to read & write in hindi... Finally, you can always consult Text and Web - Google Translate to know the meaning of english words in hindi... Provided you know to read hindi words... P.S.- Its nice to hear that you are planning to learn hindi... Its our national language... One should know it... Will make your life easier when you meet hindi speaking people... Rep Power: 10 | Why people learn English in India? Apart from it being a legacy by british rule... Therez one more factor- Its understood by people of lot of major countries who do business with India. Ofcourse I'l try to learn Kannada since I'm in Bangalore now... Atleast try to understand what people say in local language here... I was in Pune for few years... I understand marathi now... Earlier I felt completely out of place when 2 Maharashtrian guyz used to talk about something in their local language... I wasn't able to interprate what they were upto... But over-time I learnt marathi thanks to few local friends there... And it definitely made my life a lot easier... Hindi is spoken/understood by a large number of people across the country... One should learn it to make himself compatible with people of India... That doesn't mean that I'm asking you to ignore your local language/dialect... But IMO learning Hindi is as much important as learning English for present generation of our country! P.S. - I've lived in Patna, Delhi, Pune, now Bangalore... I follow one rule everywhere - Jaisa desh, waisa bhesh... [I adapt myself according to the place I live in] |
