Our friend Puchu loves the computer so much that he has started to store things in the same way as the computer stores data in the HDD.

And I am like the king of misuse as I am very poor at maintaining relationships, I don't know how to talk, I have no common sense, it is easier for me to remember a computer configuration than calculating how much should the shop keeper return me after a purchase.
So overall, living with me is like coming across radioactive material.

Correct, it describes people like Farce more accurately.

Well , when I stated that geek partner, I meant life partner(long term relationship), as I think that staying with a geek lover is easier than staying with a geek husband.

    Here is another joke:
I will accept that everything is my fault as I will not be processing everything my wife says, because it would stay in queue in cache memory for some time before getting processed, and when I recall it after an hour or two for processing, it would have been really late for any kind of reaction. You may take it as an advantage of staying with a geek.

Only the place where my computer and my Electronics R & D equipments are, looks like that ,not everywhere. That picture was a joke. I just wanted to spice up the discussion as it was going really serious.

One friend of mine, resigned just after Tech Mahindra bought Satyam... Perhaps he saw the writing on the wall... His two other room-mates who were surprised by his action, got the same mail few days later!

My friend has decided to leave IT for once and all... As of now, hez learning Japanese in Delhi...

Now to comment on the topic of the thread... I will never want my partner to be a geek... As I want my life to be balanced and not monotonous!

Really feel sorry to hear that ............... actually i had learned about this from my cousin who is also back home now ...............

But,was still hoping that by GOD's grace my joining letter of SATYAM would come ............. but now considering the lay-off ........... I'm really confused as what to do next .............. ?? ...... Thus i'm also to a extend hit by this ......... so thought you seniors can guide me on this ............

Was planning to start a new thread on this .........but, couldn't find any relevant topic heading matching the issue on the forum thus decided to post here ...........

I'm a Mechanical Engineering student(still awaiting my final semester results).
had got placed into Satyam. Now,i'm really confused what to do next ............ what all options do I have ............. ???

Would the seniors please suggest some options which i have ............. because i'm not feeling good about the current situation.

The suggestions can include everything from further studies both in India and abroad to going on for a job in my own field. MBA to M.Tech or M.S. Going for Job oriented courses to government sector jobs . learning foreign languages OR working in a Call centre .whatever you feel like you can suggest.

Please pour in some suggestions which would result in a fruitful career of mine.

    thnxx in advance

If you are interested in MBA, go ahead. By the time you finish it, recession will be under control.

If you are not particular about IT, then you have a lot of options including CAD. There are a lot of apprenticeship programs from Government and Private companies.

There are many off campus programs for joining IT field. Nowadays it is difficult to secure one, still we can try.

Nice thread, but one question I would like to ask is that what exactly do you define as being a geek, every one has different definitions, so in order for me to make a vote on the poll i need to know whether you all have the same meaning of a geek or not.

pls read post 1 & as far as i ve understood from the thread......

geek is basically a person who is totally technical...... doesnot have a life than being technical....be it computers, automtives, etc...basically addicted to it.....also to add up maybe can say ....who is always into his / her books....has jus the same tech oriented life....
Dont count wat u lost, cherish wat u ve & plan wat to gain...coz past neva returns but future may return the lost! Think-Decide-Act!!!!

    1. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.

    2. a computer expert or enthusiast (a term of pride as self-reference, but often considered offensive when used by outsiders.)

I although had given up my plans of doing MBA this yr. but your suggestion made me re-consider them.

And yeah i have already applied for one such apprenticeship program at an Ordnance Factory but being into the final yr. i don't know whether i'm eligible for it or not .

but anyways thnxx again for your useful post.
