I don't think so. Last film Directed by Lucas was Star wars : Episode III Revenge of Sith. The latest movie which was released by another director ( which I didn't watch ) was for a different audience & give publicity to cartoon on it in which it was successful.

When SW are released they get more results than even religious terms like Jesus but this is not the case of Harry Potter.
History is on the move,my friends. Those who cannot keep up will be left behind, to watch from distance. And those who stand in its way will not watch at all.http://windows7sins.org/
People are going to tell stories about me none of which change who I really am.

No I am not that big fan of SW who had read all books & comics on it. Its just that I considered it equivalent to Arabian Nights & Canterbury Tales which have contribution of many intellects.

What was the question? I might not be able to answer it.

Not much of a question really, more of a fact. The last movie was in 2005. Four years later, an animated version of the clone wars comes up just to hold the interest in SAGA. I watched myself, Quite ok.

You see, writing such super sci-fi script starting from nearly 30 years ago is incredible, but such is the irony that, there isnt much left, there are out of ideas. Did you know there are scripts and books of the story after Return of the jedi. I read them, they are crap, it basically repeated the story with luke dying and his grandson becoming Jedi master and blah blah.

    Where as for the LOTR

The book hobbit is going into production for 2 movie parts with release date of Dec 2011 and 2012, jointly directed and/or produced by Peter Jackson and Guillermo tel toro.

I know that. But you should know that the books are selling in millions. No books have been written in which his son or Grand Son become GM. Books are quite interesting.Thrawn Trilogy is famous search it.

PS: You might have read scripts which have been rejected.
I am also fan of middle earth series.

I was talking about the feature film development script which never took off for the SW saga! Anyway, nice talking to ppl in the same field i.e (fans of middle-earth).

I quite disagree about LOTR. The books were made famous by the movie. No one had ever heard of them outside UK or for that matter outside Oxford.

Having read LOTR way back in 1988, I recommended to my "reader" friends and very few really cared to read beyond 10 pages.

SW books are written by many people who borrowed the franchise idea. Naturally all are not good. Some are quite OK.

    I am a big LOTR fan myself...Just d/led h.264 720p 25GB extended editions of all 3 movies!

BTW Peter Jackson is planning a new movie called the Hobbit. Planned release in 2011 or 2012.

They are planning to start shooting next year.

For those of you that don't know Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy I & II) will be the director, and Peter Jackson (the director of LotR) will be producer this time around, but both are intimately involved and a part of the screen writing team.

The Hobbit is planned as a two film movie (not as one move from the book and one movie to bridge the Hobbit and LotR as originally planned) and a few of the actors from the first films will be reprising their roles (Gandalf, Elrond, Gollum is confirmed, but others might join later once the script is finalized..)

I am also a fan of LOTR. But when I first saw the first part I
wasn't that interested, It was because it was overhyped
before the release I think. Then I watched the second
and third and my interest was piqued.

I then bought all three dvds and watched them over a weekend
and I was hooked. I have watched them a few more times and
now I have become a fan.

Then (and if you don't have the extended version), I will recommend the extended version of the three films. I have both sets and I can assure everyone that extended version is really worth the extra money.

Like a special edition or something, or is it available in the same disks?

Before Harry potter the habit of reading books was seriously on the wane in most countries that might be the reason
And i personally think that the first movie of the LOTR was the best among the series .
Though the books obviously were better than the movies .

SW books have consistently been on New York best seller lists. These books first have to be approved by Lucas arts. In fact first novels on them was written by Alan Dean Foster in 1978( if we remove New Hope) which is earlier than many films.SW books have world famous authors which are called for writing them. I will not be surprise if JK is called for writing one. But first she have to mature.

HP is not going to be remember for as long time as middle earth books. It might not be that famous but only writing matter in long run not how a book is treated now.

Too early to say whether HP will be remembered ..... But it is easily one of the most widely read in history right after its release

The series has been translated into 67 languages, placing Rowling among the most translated authors in history
while i would say LOTR series is better than HP . HP scores in simplicity . I think both will be remembered .

But HP suffers from lack of originality. If you have read Enid you will find her writing matching with Enid. Also plot is also not that original.

Blyton is the sixth most translated author worldwide: over 3400 translations of her books were available in 2007 according to UNESCO's Index Translationum she is behind Lenin and almost equal to Shakespeare

JK writing style match with her .
