But HP suffers from lack of originality. If you have read Enid you will find her writing matching with Enid. Also plot is also not that original.

Blyton is the sixth most translated author worldwide: over 3400 translations of her books were available in 2007 according to UNESCO's Index Translationum she is behind Lenin and almost equal to Shakespeare

JK writing style match with her .

Enid Blyton was the darling of the children before Rowling came up. She has written so many books for the children:

- Secret Seven series
- Famous Five Series
- Five Findouter series
- Mallory Towers Series
- many others

I used to read her books a lot.

Right. Five Findouters were the part of the mystery series - Fatty, Larry, Pip, Larry's sis (forgot her name) and Beth. There was the village PC, Mr. Goon and his nephew Ernie.

I will credit Enid Blyton with starting me up on the book reading habit .... Noddy went on to secret seven and then famous five .... i have read every single book of hers

I think ppl are taking the intellectual property right issue a bit too far .... it is likely that any author who writes a book will be influenced at least to some extent by books that she has already read ... you cant call HP a rip off any particular book , can you ?

You have to credit her with restarting the habit of reading in today's children .... before HP reading was a dieing habit in developed countries ..... She still remains one of the most widely read authors of today

I agree that it's too early to say whether HP will have enduring popularity. Whether it will be inducted into the Western canon will certainly take time. I think that LOTR and Dune, such lasting works of science fiction/fantasy have proven their status as "classics" in the genre.

Also, even though the LOTR movies helped expand the readership of the novels, LOTR was famous even before the movies were made. So the impression that "the movies made the books famous" is completely incorrect. To say that the books were not "famous" before the movies is inaccurate.

I don't have any favourite author. I judge them book by book.
Also I am not able to tell which is my favourite book because how can you compare different type of books & style?

known only as 'The Needle' ..... He was responsible for infiltrating Britain and assassinating a lot of VIPs ... nobody knew how he killed his victims .. they finally found out ... He just syringed them in the chest (heart) when they were asleep ...inducing a heart attack ! After Germany lost he committed suicide by jabbing himself in the chest with the syringe..

I have found it very difficult to find this book ... Anybody read it ?
I think you are refering to the book"eye of the needle" by Ken Follett. I have read it .The book is really good and is about a German spy. Subsequently, it was made into a movie and I found the book to be better than the movie !!

Ken Follett and Jeffery Archer are my favourite authors. Iliked the Third Twin and White out by Ken Follett ; Prisoner of Birth nd Kane and Abel by Jeffery Archer
