Question Problem with ALTO

My alto which is 1yrs old n 7000km.... today the "Malfunction Indicator" Light came on even after the engine started. Is its a serious problem?? as per user manual its given there is problem with emission control system.

Recently we had flood in chennai 2-3 months back, i had to drove past one road which was flooded i think water was above the silencer end n i felt too as if water got in.

when did u last service ur car? even if ur car hasn't run that much, a service once every six mths is needed. And if ur engine has taken water, its a must. make sure u fully flush ur engine during service.
Also what was ur petrol level. when on reserve fuel, sometimes the engine function indicator comes on.

The problem is most likely the water, although it is odd that the problem has started after a couple of months.Did you notice any other changes in your car function after the floods ?
In any case, a car service should fix things easily. So don't neglect it coz it cud get worse.

i get my car serviced periodically so its not a service problem. how come i will know that whether the engine has taken water or not....? n the petrol is up to the half mark.

N short while ago i took the car n the Malfunction Indicator went off whats the problem really confused......

It could be temporary malfunction of the indicator light only. But why take chances? Get your car inspected at an authorised service station immediately.

Seems like an issue with the catalytic converter. Get the vehicle checked at the nearest MASS without fail.

i gave it for service at MASS they said that starter have to be replaced but MASS is not authorised for carrying out warrenty works so they left it, but they where not sure about the MIL they where just telling its problem with sensor. Then gave it to MSM for Starter Replacement they got it replaced n told me that MIL was because of that.
