First off, please be patient for replies regarding general topics.

From what i could understand from your post, you r asking why the oil needs to be changed after the first 1000 km. Well this 1k mark is the engine run-in period. During this time the new engine moving parts get smoothed out and become mated to each other while causing the least wear on it or are 'opened up' in layman terms... .
That is why you should never go beyond the 2000 RPM limit during this period, since there is a lot of friction on a new engine.

Now the oil change after the run in is crucial since the oil accumulates tiny metal filings and other debris during this running in period. If the oil is not changed at this point, then it will result in damage to the engine. hence the oil change after 1k km. It is after this point that the regular maintenance schedule will be applied to the car. Many even have the second oil change after another 2000km.
    DON'T beam me up, Scotty!

no probs buddy... take good care of ur new car.

also the fuel economy and overall future performance and life of the engine will depend on how well a car is handled during this run in period (not to mention how is it handled afterwards )
