Maruti Suzuki Ritz is the new car from Maruti, which will be launched in India on 15th May 2009. The Ritz being a new model car, will be different from the rest of the Maruti cars which is why it is not being replaced by any Maruti series car.

The cost of the Maruti Ritz would be around the A-star range, and it would also be competed against the Hyundai i series.
The car interiors are well designed and and whole look of the car is good.

The price range of the car will be for those in the have mid level and higher mid level income groups.

This car seems like it would be a great success and it already is in the Europe where its already been launched, lets see how India take it!

The Maruti Suzuki launching "Splash" as "Ritz"

Suzuki Splash is renamed as Maruti Suzuki Ritz in India. It may be launched by early 2009, with a new 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol engine and the famous 1.3L DDIS engine, in the price range 4.5 - 5.5 lakhs.

The reason for the name change is that the name 'Splash' is already reserved by some other manufacturer.

Will this car not cannibalize into the A-Star and Swift sales? What does this car offer that is not present in the other two models? Plus Maruti already has Wagon-R and Zen Estillo in the same B segment.

It makes you think whats the point of launching a new car then? Just because its got a new and different shape?

If it was to replace another Maruti series it would be understandable, but its just another addition.

Any users of Ritz here? Please post some reviews about it...

As per my grapevine, Ritz is not making any waves because people are slightly disappointed with the limited rear leg space as well as the boot space.

The car, engine-wise, is quite good.

Thanks for the information... Even I heard that engine is good... However, is it still a better buy than i10?

I will recommend saving some more money and go for Swift. You will thank me then.

Between i10 and Ritz, I will just flip a coin.
