Maruti suzuki has announced recently that maruti 800 and maruti omni will be phased out in about 11 metro cities in India to be in line with the new emission lines.
Maruti will phase out these models in select metro cities while it will continue sales in rural areas.
The emission norm is just a part of the reason for phasing out as maruti is facing stiff competition from better and cheaper cars now available like the Nano from tata.
Maruti isbnt even offering an upgrade on these models to make then euro lV complaint. Maruti omni and 800 are believed to have atleast 34% fall in demands as people get ready for a car which cost 1 lakh and is suitable for middle class families.
