| Platinum Member | swift looks great and is a very comfortable car. though the steering is not adjustible, every proportion is perfect for an average person. And with some minor external mods it looks really really cool. |

Rep Power: 12 | Hi Krish, I completely forgot to update this thread.. now that you have bumped it I saw it again I drove Maruti swift diesel version for about 300 kilometres in total ( Delhi- Chandigarh- Delhi) and I found it alright. Its a good car for the city no doubt about it and even if you go long distances some time its going to be a good ride. I think its the best Diesel car in that price range. I dont know what the exact price is so you gonna have to give your local dealer a call. There is no booking period or anything you just have to go to the dealer pay the money and you drive home with your new car. And do not be mislead by the dealer about this discount and that discount... shop around and also do not forget to bargain and as far as I understand the dealer should come down atleast 30-35k from the total price they quote you. I have some very good experience in buying new cars Dont feel bad about walking out of the showroom and dont take offence when the dealer say >> Kya sir car mein bhi bargaining karoge.... tell them that yes you will ... there is no shame in telling them that they are charging too much. Not many people try to bargain on new cars... The dealers have a huge margin to play with and its upto you how much you can eat away from their margin |

Pick up and drag is as good as Ford 1.6 petrol ( if you have experienced it.. I feel its best in the class ). Handling and stability is not as per expectations, but obviously you cannot expect much, as it falls in small cars class catagory.... The best i have experienced is Maruti Baleno, you just cant beat it ( but its from Sedan class.... thas the reason Baleno is always preferred in Himalayan car rallies) Please remember few things before you buy a diesel car... 1. Please check you average daily running... If its more than 50-70 Kms a day, then only its economical 2. Diesel cars always attract more maintenance / service than petrol cars... Unless you plan to sale it 2-3 years... though i feel the engine is from FIAT- Grande Punto, wont need much maintenance... 3. Noise / vibrations from Diesel car are always higher than Petrol... Swift VDI is now available easily, no waiting period. But check the same again in your area. TIP- Prices are liable to come down by March 2009, if you can wait you will get better price... Reasons- Recession worldwide in automotive sector and Financial year end. Manufacturers give you schemes like free RTO n Insurance, extended warranty, etc etc., during Financial year ending.. I did receive Rs 1.7 lakhs discount when i bought my Baleno 3 years back... | |

Rep Power: 1 | According to my point of view, i dont like this sporty car. The looks are ugly and not appealing and i doubt how maruti has achieved so much sales of swift in very short time. |
