Default Best mobile broadband connection in cities

While I have seen another thread in this forum which asks about the best mobile broadband connection in rural areas, I would like to know which one is the best in large cities and metros.

I am currently based in London and will return to India in a month. I am looking for a connection with high speed (currently I get upto 8mbps here in London), effective customer care and large data transfer facility (mostly for mailing, voice and video chatting and some music and rare video downloads) at reasonable cost. I am specifically looking for a connection which will provide hassle-free roaming within the city and the country.

Can you please provide the names of the plans?

Presently Reliance NetConnect Broadband+ (EVDO.Rev.A) is the only service that offers mobile internet at average Speed of aroound 1 mbps with free roaming in 35 major cities of India. The high volume plan is Rs.1750 for 10 GB per month (no unlimited plan)
U can check the details ion this thread,

You have 2 other options apart from Reliance and those are TATA Indicom Photon and BSNL Evdo ... both provide more or less the same speeds ..... But without roaming

    Question

    thanks, panchabhut and ShAdOwCoN!

so if i want to have mobile broadband without incurring any roaming charge, then reliance bb+ is the only option. right?

also, how long does it take to get BSNL mobile broadband? i am particularly concerned with BSNL because I have seen earlier that they take a lot of time to provide the connection. is it valid in case of mobile broadband also?

i have seen a lot of negative reviews in mouthshut about tata photon. and reliance has been accused by some of over-billing. how far is that true? any idea?

BSNL EVDO does not allow roaming. paid or free. But it is available over the counter at places where the service has been launched.

Overbilling issues are there with all operators in some quantity.

Further, BSNL and TATA use EVDO REV.0 which limits upload speed to 156 kbps. Reliance uses EVDO.REV.A which has a maximum upload speed of 1.8 mbps. (for details on EVDO.REV.0 & EVDO.REV.A pl. Google)

As far as Reliance is concerned , you can check and Pay your Bill online

It also shows you the aggregate usage (in MB) .... you can check the usage for each session (in MB) in the software client , though it is not saved after you close it .....

I would say Reliance is the best to use in a city, but being a city i think any connection would perform well!
