    Default BSNL 3G sucks. DON"T go for it.

    Hey, don't go for it without first watching the same on some trial number.

    I converted my old bsnl number into 3G and am repenting.

    Net rates are too much high to use it practically.
    And moreover speed of net is not any where near BSNL landline broadband.

    I would never recommend bsnl 3g as it is now.

    I'm repenting as I'll have to ultimately renounce my good (*****50050) number.

    Default Can you confirm

    Hi Mr Krishan, I am quite surprised that the download speed is 2 MPBS. in the FAQs the BSNL is claiming only 384 kbps, which is terrible, and it got me discouraged. Are you sure about the 2 MBPS speed? Can you confirm? What phone are you using with this card? I plan to buy one 3G SIm card for my I-phone, but not sure at all about the performance , so I am delaying the decision.

    Regards

    ITU (Internatinal telecommunication union ) state that "it is expected that IMT-2000 ( 3G) will provide higher transmission rates: a minimum speed of 2 Mbit/s and maximum of 14.4 Mbit/s for stationary users, and 348 kbit/s in a moving vehicle,".

    Still 3G in india has a long way to go, when the broadband servies still arent mature, why bring another technology, improve what you have first!

    Default Mobile Broadband 3G and 4G

    Many users of 3G services are already asking for better performance, and that demand will push towards 4G. LTE (3.99G) is the future looming up ahead and is marketed today as 4G in some countries.While 3G allows date transfer rates upto 14.4 mbps, LTE will enhance this to an exponentially faster rate (15times to 100 times faster than 3G).Yet in India 3G is just coming up, and is a good step. I curently use 3G services which give me reliable download speeds (I can happliy listen uninterrupted to streaming internet radio stations and watch youtube videos while moving) . One good thing 3G has done is free me from the Laptops and PCs. It has helped ease my neck pain.

    BSNL Evdo is the 3G service you guys are talking about .... its a USB modem/data card and gives speeds of upto 2.4mbps wireless .....mobile broadband doesnt mean you have to only use it in mobile phones...lol ....

    it uses the cdma network that cell phones use to give you this service .This is meant to be used with PCs .

    @Piyush Patel
    I think I got confused with kbps and KBps.
    I thought 1024 kbps=1mbps and logically 384 kbps would be 0.375 mbps.
    But you are right, that 384 KBps is 3 mbps.( KB is Kilobytes and kb is kilobits)
    Please correct me, if I am wrong.

    @SHADOWCON
    Well Shadow, true, the Datacard is for Laptops and ensures wireless mobility. What I am interested in however is the 3G SIM Card ( or rather -Universal Subscriber Identity Module simply call it the USIM ) which BSNL is providing, and if anyone is using it on an I-Phone I would like to know its realistic performance levels.

    BSNL 3g service is launched in SIRSA, HARYANA
    I checked the internet through BSNL data card for 3g.

    Here are some thing that i have noticed.

    1) download speed upto 104 KBps. (around 1 Mbps or 800 kilobit per second)
    Site that i used for download speed checking : scanwith.com/McAfee_SuperDAT_Update_download.htm

    (Download is good)

    2) Surfing is not so good when we download something.
    3) Without downloading the surfing is not also so good. but its average.
    4) Unlimited download tarrif is Rs.2999/- + S.T. for a month.

    The same speed for unlimited download you can get just paying Rs.250/- per month (you are shocked haha but this is true that i have checked). This is the loophole that i get on BSNL.

    if you want to know How? just ask me on ankitengr@gmail.com or call me 09017619095.

    Enjoy unlimited download @ 104 KBps speed and just pay 250/- per month.

    BSNL is too best.
