Default Difference in datacard and USB

I read a post about a minute and they asked for a difference in a datacard and USB, I didnt quite know this and thought it was something basic and felt weird in asking, but now i will.

So someone please tell me whats the difference in datacard and USB connection?

A data card uses a PCMCIA interface. It plugs into a laptop into slots that are available on the sides. Here is a PCMCIA card:

The USB data card is different and looks like any thumb drive:

USB (if its a Wireless Broadband) can also be linked to a LAN server to provide connectivity to multiple PCs.
