    Default Will mobile broadband take over?

    Although mobile broadband is still fairly new in India, but it is also very popular ad gives great performance, and not many people have complained about the services no matter who the provider is?

    Do you think that mobile broadband will take over from DSL broadband or cable internet services?

    I think to some extent it may takeover, as there is so much hassle in cables and installation and people face a lot of problems, although mobile broadband is slightly costly as compared to DSL broadband and cable internet services, but with time it will get more reasonable, and it may be then that people will start opting for mobile broadband.

    for those who travel a lot, mobile BB is a real blessing. its also real good for the casual user with a laptop.
    but for the serious user, it can never replace the wired broadband.
    mobile BB has its limitations, like no unlimited plan and speeds varying with signal strength.

    Instead of a take over, you will find wireless terminal everywhere. Just like we have mobile towers, institutions and malls will offer wifi network which can be used in your laptop.

    I agree with panchabhut's point.....I always prefer Wired Broadband over Mobile Broadband....You waste too much of money in mobile broadand as the rates are really high......and that too for a lesser speed.......

    thats something that we can talk about, for example if down the line the prices slash down and the speeds increase, then what?

    mobile broadband have some obvious advantages

    -> Does nt require much after service support , which Indian ISP's are never good at providing

    -> Gives you excellent speeds .... currently even more than wired

    -> gives you mobility

    ->Plug and play feature

    but they have some disadvantages too

    -> Too costly

    -> No unlimited plans

    -> High latency

    etc etc

    so they may to some extent replace wired providers , especially in areas where wired services are nt good ..... There are many Indian users who dont mind shelling out more money for a consistent service and these ppl are likely to be the ones using these services

    Computer tech changes every min. But as for India i think wired network will play a major part till 15 and after that i think less people will take it as costs will be high(cableing modem etc)moreover there are huge people investing in 3gs and usb thingies cause the work-gypsies have to go here and there. Mobile broadband is extremely price hefty now. But i think in two years prices will drop down. And when prices drop down even a rickshaw puller will have it.
