    Question My IP location

I am using BSNL EV-DO card
When I check my location using

My IP address? Free IP Address tracer, IP address lookup, IP address finder

it gives my location as Bangalore or Salem or Delhi

It keeps changing all the time.
It is never giving my correct location

But when I use a different connection it gives my right location.
    What can be the problem?

Depending on the traffic, you may be
    connected to different gateways.
Probably from your local tower they have
provision to connect to another available Gateway .

    Check this way;
    Start /RUN type cmd Ok
    New page
    type ipconfig /all

    Report here please. your observation/s.
your BB connection IP will also change as it is Dynamic.

I checked it it is giving my ip as 10.xxx.xxx.xxx the xxx keep changing all the time I disconnect and connect. But this is a different from wat I got using diffetent ip checkers.why is it so?
I am not able to trace those ips.It is saying that the ip is a private one and cannot be traced.

And how can I know whether I am getting a public ip or a shared static ip?

your ip could only be located on the exchange side...
These vas services(basically EDGE networks) give ips of DELHI, MUMBAI etc, cause their servers are located in these cities and from these cities your computer is redirected to the net..(thats my logic, hope this is best)

if someone has to know his ip, he can only determine through exchange or the service provider.

definetly there is no way to find out ip addresses of edge/vas/gprs users on the first sight..

    i conclude.

There is just one to know if you have ip static or dynamic. Just login and check your ip. Than log out. Than log in again after fifteen minutes and check the ip. If the ip same that means you are static otherwise the vice versa. But in most times it is dynamic. Open dns usually measures your non staticness by making region of IPs(for example if your ip is xxx.xxx.123 than it will make a region of xxx.xxx.123/200. So this way even if you have a dynamic ip there are no major problems. If you are in a small city where there maybe less users of edge network than luckily you may get a previous ip.
But my gmail account tells that i logged in from a different ip last time. And the last digits that i see are varying usually between 20 previous or next numbers.

Why worry about your ip location in the first place?

    @preeti_20
    About the location
    just out of curiosity.

    @mickey
I know how to find out whether I have dynamic ip or a static ip
I want know whether I have a shared ip or not
I have a dynamic IP but want to know whether it is shared with anybody else or not.
I want to know about the following because if I have shared ip that would explain my widely varying speeds when downloading from servers and low torrent speeds otherwise I have to search for other reasons for the problem.

    PROBLEM BSNL EV-DO card
I check my location using it gives my location as Bangalore or Salem or Delhi
From the nearest tower you are connected to
the other towers, and finally to Internet from a base location.
    ( like cellphone connections)
That is why the IP is not 117.xx or 59.xx

    Para two:
Type your dynamic IP in address bar. when using EV-DO
    Please give feedback.

For a landline based Internet, you are connected to the
Gateway immediately and connected. so you get Fixed dynamic IP.

When I type my ip in the address bar it is saying that there is problem in loading the page.

And now I am getting different set of IPs.Before I used to get very limited IPs(only last numbers used to change that too only a set of ten numbers) but now I am getting IP starting with 117.XX.XX.XX. last two numbers are changing and I didnt get the same IP twice till now .I am getting the same IP when I type ipconfig/all in command prompt and in www.ip-address.com

And the good thing about it is I am able to download torrents with almost the same speed as direct downloads. And the incoming connections are not blocked anymore.
So I think now I am getting a non shared dynamic IP now.

you are still on shared ip believe me...
you need to understand edge and its notion.

    I dont think so.
And I dont have an EDGE based connection.
    It is based on EV-DO.
IP checking sites are not even detecting proxy os they used to do before.
And rapidshare is not giving me the problem saying that 'someone is downloading a file already' as it used to do before.
So I think I am not getting a shared IP now.
