Default Going to Tamil Nadu/Kesaragere - which mobile broadband provider can you recommend?

I am from Germany and will volunteer in India for 2 months in October and November. I look forward to visiting your country very much :-) The organization I'll be working for is located 20 kilometers south of Tamil Nadu in a very small village with no IT-infrastructure. That means the only way how to access Internet is with a mobile broadband connection.

Currently they are using Tata Indicom Photon+. Vodafone didn't work at all which is why they switched to Tata. The connection at least works somehow but is supposed to be extremely slow. Way below from what you can consider to be usable for working on everyday tasks. The people at the place I am going to are no computer experts at all which is why I am trying to find some helpful information here.

What would you recommend for this area? Is there anything which can be done to improve the connection with the current provider? If not, how can I find out what the best provider is in that area?

Might it be a promising idea to take along a UMTS-Antenna with a USB-connection in order to amplify the signal?

Any help is highly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance!

If you are going to Kesaragere then this village comes under state of KARNATAKA.

The best way to find out which service is available in that area is to spend few days over there, inquire about the same to the people over there.
