if you are not ON THE MOVE user..dont buy those USB net...its of no use to you if you download via torrents.

for direct download its good . Eg. if you take BSNL EVDO and you dont have EVDO enabled exchange then you will get normal 144Kbps speed and not 3mbps.

    Exclamation Megabits And KiloBytes

Generally most of internet users see the 1 Mbps(megabits per second) and read it Megabytes per second which is a big difference.
    You should know that,
    8 bits = 1 Bytes
    8192 Bits = 1024 Bytes = 1 Megabyte
    or 8192 Bits = 8 Megabits
    8 Megabits X 1024 = 8192 Kilobits = 8X1024/8 KiloBytes = 8X128 KiloBytes = 1024 KiloBytes = 1 Megabyte

You can see above that to convert Megabits to kiloBytes, we have to multiply it with 128 which means

    3.1 Mbps = 3.1 X 128 KBps = 396.8 KBps

So don't be confused in Bits and Bytes.
