Also I am looking for one in mumbai.
You may try MTNL 3G if you have to surf using your mobile.
Now mobile connection means two things.
1. Mobile phone used as the modem for the purpose of internet.
2. Buying data card like Micromax's..
With a mobile you should check if it has HSDPA enabled because only 3G mobile will give formost 300 kbps (in and around ideally)
With a modem like the one i mentioned in 2nd point you will get top speeds as well you can use it with different operators (using different sim cards)
These modems are bought as hot cakes, against my thoughts. Specially because people have been tortured with slower edge dial up data cards by mobile operators...
Visit MTNL website for more promotions on new schemes and costs...
Also do look of cheaper wifi connections like TATA, TIKONA WIBRO( if possible nearby you) etc..
You may browse through this website using google search for more..
Site from home gaya bhad mein... AIrtel se bolo FUP band kare.. BSNl se bolo 3G signal do!!!!>: (
Thank you for you prompt reply
Much appreciated. Could you pls help amongst Airtel, Vodafone, Tata docomo, and Mtnl Gprs which has a better speed while browsing on the Note book pc using mobile as a modem.
Speeds vary from place to place.. but i can tell you whats happening here in Uttarakhand( and so i dont know of MTNL)
speed ranks & costs..
1. Idea (expensive 20 Rs. a day)
2. Airtel / BSNL (May be equavalent to MTNL of Mumbai) Airtel: 95 (or 98) / month Bsnl: 274 UL.
3. Tata Docomo /AIRCEL (Docomo 48/- 2GB, 95 6GB, Aircel: 98 / month)
4. Vodafone (expensive)- never tried.
Interestingly
Docomo services are not poor, because i have been to different places and i saw that its services are actually ranging from proper to poor (regarding network) and connectivity..
BSNL / MTNL are better( atleast i have seen MTNL in Delhi and it was good enough for browsing)
Vodafone is not willing to compete.

You are a champion. You just made my job easy for 3g connection for mumbai.
I just called Mtnl from Australia spoke to customer rep and got good news that I can get a 3g Sim gsm connection for just 10 rs and 53 rs for life time activation plus on top of that I can recharge for 399 rs and get local mumbai calling unlimited.
10= 3g new connection already activated
53= life time recharge one time
149= gprs activation one time
399= unlimited local calling mumbai
700= 2gb data with video calling.
Happy to have my internet and telecommunication task selected with the help of INDIA BROADBAND FORUMS.Thank you all of you.
Bsnl is not available in mumbai,
Tata docomo services are not good as Mtnl 3G!So saying that tata docomo is not poor is not appreciable!
Hence@threadstarter,
Try the mtnl 3g data card speed before u invest
I admit:Tata photon+ is also good in wireless broadband services
Please mention how much u can invest,Do u want unlimited?
