Thread: Confused about the use of Micromax 310G Data Card

Hey! its mah first post..so pardon me for mistakes!

I am going to buy Micromax 310G Data Card which is 3g enabled, though i dont have to use 3g.
I wanted to know can i use my Airtel Simcard which i currently use for internet on my PC with the data card with the same plan of 98Rs for 2GB.... ???? as am in tight budget

NO MMX 310G OR TERACOM. Consider either Huawei 1750 / 1752 or UMG 1831. Tonight I will give detailed suggestion (as per your PM). Don't be in hurry.

Meanwhile I want to know what is your budget and usage.

Hey! thanx for reply. I am in very tight budget and use AirTel Rs.98 gprs card for 2 gb usage. Speed is considerably okay when you look at pricing (about 300 kbps = 39 kBps to 120 kbps = 15 kBps)
i want to know can i use it in modem with same plan which i use today using
mah nokia phone.
Here by tight budget i didn't meant that i'll buy anything. I consider buying 3G ready data card.

i use MMX 310, its a bit overpriced,but not bad....i got a few software issues with W7 x64 though..

I bought a new BSNL sim of 3G should i use a micromax mmx310g or use the one bsnl is providing?

In 3G data card you can use 2G or 3G SIM.

When you are going to use same 2G SIM with same 2G plan, why do you want to buy 3G data card ?

You are not clear about the word ' budget '. 1 re also a budget 1000 rs is also a budget. But the man holding the budget should only reveal the amount. I have also asked about your ( tight ) budget only and not any liberal one. Then only I can give some suggestion.

If you have not yet bought the card, avoid from BSNL (Micromax and Teracom). UMG 1831 is a good option.

There are tons of information in Bsnl3g category. I never visited queries here.

I buy UMG 1831 this is with 21 mbps which is of 3000 but after buying i saw another Huawei D100 3g Wireless Router 54 Mbps Wi-Fi/Lan Suport this is of 3100 isn't this the better one?

Well, there are many other better options, so i will not recommend it as many have software issues with it. Why you need 21mbps bro? If i were you, i would get BSNL as its a tad cheaper..

Check this nice 3G portable router. This one is reasonably priced at 3500, with battery back-up and handy to carry any where with car charger, and AC power adapter, carry pouch etc.

Micromax has the poor update support in their website, for data cards.

MMX 310G has only 3.6Mbps DL and 384Kbps UL. At the time of entry it may be a good choice. But now we have to reconsider it. Even EVDO cards have higher 1.8Mbps UL capacity.

Already BSNL has started upgrading to 7.2Mbps speed.

Even 7.6Mbps DL / 5.76 Mbps UL 3G cards cost only 500Rs extra and 21Mbps card another 500Rs. But the benefit is high. Upload speed will be useful for torrent seeding and files uploading for youtube and other sites.

Cheaper and little costlier speaks one time investment... Reg 21Mbps card option, pl read the last 8 lines below the last image in my earlier post # 228 of this thread...

Hello i have recived the UMG 1831, after connecting the device i installed the setup and when trying to connect getting this msg...
"Error 619:A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed."

Do i have to change some setting ? please help

Man feck it! i did the mistake of buying mmx 310G and just after hours of usage it stopped working, i mean sure Device Manager shows "Mobile Connector" under modems but the dialer software says "No device" :|

And the dialup connection i created gives me Error 619, worst part is the inbuilt drivers flash drive stopped showing and my dooshy local dealer wont refund/exchange/fix this.

My only hope would be someone uploading their mmx310G drivers from their modems flash memory.

^will do that first thing in the morning bro....

I am also facing the same issue where in the system wont show the Device as detected. requesting to please help me with the solution
