Default Wireless BB, 3G or EVDO

Dear all, a newbie saying hello.

Regarding my query, I've been using BSNL BB wired 750/- unlimited for a couple of years. Not satisfied with the service & quality. Also need a mobile internet connection.

So, want to go in for wireless BB. So far have seen:

    Docomo - 3G, expensive plans.

    Photon - EVDO, 800/- unlimited, 3.1mbps. USB Modem 2k.

    Reliance - EVDO, 500/- 20 GB limit.

    BSNL - EVDO, 2.1mbps, 750/- unlimited. USB modem - 2.5k

    BSNL - 3G, 999 unlimited plan, USB modem - 2-3k.

    Voda - 2G, 400/- unlimited, USB modem- 1.5k.

    BSNL - 2G, 274/- unlimited, modem - 2k.

This is what I've see so far, maybe have missed many. Now, my requirement is
    decent speed, minimum 256kbps.
    Monthly bill less than 1k.
    Good service.

Now, 2G plans are really lucrative. How are the speeds?

What to opt for between 3G or EVDO?

Which USB modem to buy, locked or un-locked & which brand & model?

    Thanks & regards

BSNL 3G unlimited plans no longer exists. Rs. 999 plan is a micro SIM for iPad. Wireless connections are not reliable at this moment. It is better to use wireless connection as a back up. Also 2G unlimited plans from BSNL are also withdrawn. If Vodafone offers 2G unlimited, better subscribe to it (purely my opinion, wait for further comments).

Thanks, doesn't BSNL offer a micro sim usually?

How are 2G speeds with Voda?

Can someone point towards a good limited plan with atleast 5GB limit.

Also, which Data card/USB modem to choose?

As of now if you need urgently I have found that ONLY reliance 3g is what works in maximum areas with speed ranging from 1.5 (usually) to max 2.8(occasionally) The best part is that they have a location coverage map on their website so you can check which all areas you will be roaming in & are they covered or not.

No 3g operator are giving unlimited plans (BSNL has withdrawn)

Choose the plan based on any of the following factors.
    1.maximum areas covered
    2.connection reliability across the country
    3.data download limits
    4.cost of the plan

For me 2nd option was the reason to buy Reliance 3g & I bought bsnl 3g for unlimited data but that's withdrawn now & bsnl gave me pathetic speeds & was quite low on signal as compared to reliance while I was roaming.

I have heard good reviews about tata docomo but again its expensive.
Reliance cheapest plan is 2100/- for 21gb with carry forward to next month if you dont download ful 21gb.

Thanks, but going by this EVDO scores because you still get unlimited plans at ~ 800/- monthly.

Btw, which 3G wireless modem to buy?
