    Question planned to buy 3g usb modem stick, if you are using it, please help me..

    hi, dear friends..
    i'm thinking of buying a usb modem which works with all operators (preferably gsm operator). i'm confussed with so many varities... i have read reviews on other websites that they don't give enough speed, have connectivity issues and many more things.. i have personally seen that a modem of micromaxx (model no i dont know but it supports 3g and hsdpa) was giving 3 KBps to 8 KBps speed with vodafone sim.
    presently i'm using my nokia n79 to connect to internet and i'm getting speed around 15 kBps to 20 kBps.

    so before i waste my money i want to ask if these are really good? means i'm planning to use vodafone mobile connect's unlimited plan of 394, will i get good speed?
    i have asked custumer care if i can use that plan with my mobile and he said yes you can use it with usb modem or mobile wherever u wish to..
    Vodafone 3G USB Stick: 3G USB Modem - Internet access for laptop & Desktop | Rajasthan

    secondly can i use bsnl's evdo plan with that usb modem? can i use any plan provided by operators for their usb modems? like reliance net connect

    and finally, which 3g usb modem will be best as per price, performance?
    please suggest me.. write your reviews, speedtest results and price of your modems and operater and plan you are using.. please friends it will great help for me.

    You can buy 3.6 mbps GSM stick for around Rs 1500 or 7.2 mbps stick for approx rs 2000 (it will be locked if you buy operator brand-voda 3670z 7.2 mbps not bad) or even UMG 1831 -21mbps unlocked for rs 2700 or so.
    But Vodafone sim with Rs 374 all you can eat plan will give maximum speed of 150 kbps only at best.

    Posting using Voda 3570z (3.6 mbps) data card with Airtel sim .

    wow, you are getting 131 KBps (1.53 mbps ) downloading and 7.5 KBps ( 0.06mbps) speed? downloading speed is amazing bro, are u using airtel with 3G or 2G?

    and i have set my mind to purchase unlocked usb modem, i'm not going to purchase it from vodafone or airtel or anyother, i'll go to nehru place (delhi) and will directly buy it from retailer, fully unlocked.

    one more thing i waana ask that i wish to connect my phone to that usb modem connection. my phone have wifi, how can i configure that usb modem to make an usb wifi hotspot so that i can connect my phone and share that connection.

    I create a local wifi hotspot in my Android directly with the 3 G sim in the phone.( I dont need to use data card as a modem).Then apart from phone using the 3G signal, my Notebook and kid's phone also picks up the wifi signal. (pass word protected)
    One problem of using Android for wifi creation -phone gets hot if more than 1-2 hours.

    If you plan intense use for your 3G, better buy a data card. I have seen people opting for UMG 1831 and K4505. Try this site, will give an idea (many members here bought from this site)

    so, finally brought it from ebay. modem is really new and fully unlocked. got it in 2495 rs. (rs 50 cash back will be given by my bank so total cost = 2445 rs. )
    randeep.singh.arora great seller, shipped within 2 days.

    regarding speed, i'm not getting good speed on 2 g signal , getting better than this in my phone. like i'm getting 5 to 7 kBps with modem and 7 to 15 kBps in phone. (using idea)
    docomo = 5 to 6 in modem 4 to 20 in phone
    vodafone = 5 to 6 in modem 3 to 30 in phone
    i have used my MTNL sim and 3G and got 238 kBps and between 1.5 to 2.5 mBps on speedtest (i'm on roaming in rajasthan so network was of bsnl)

    dont know why on modem with 2g network by every operator its giving between 5 to 7 kBps..?

    Edge/Gprs signals may be poor in your home.
    Airtel/Vodafone gives normally 20 to 25 KBPS for 2 G packages.
    In my Voda 3570Z data card both Airtel and Voda GPRS pack enabled sims give 20 to 30 KBPS gppd enough for casual blog browsing (not 50-70 KBPS minimum required for Youtube etc.)
    My 7.2 mbps Anroid phone performs better than data card speed wise even.(but not safe to waste a rs 25k phone where as <Rs2000 data card does the job.)

Regarding speeds im getting around 3-4 Mbps(inconsistent bcoz of the heavy rainfall during the past week) in kolkata. The best part that i like about it is the fact that no matter how long u use it i doesnot get as HOT as the Huwaei and bro i must tell u its beautiful(see my avatar)
    i also love design of my huawei umg 1831. and now nokia is surviving only on its name..
    my card is working fine and i'm happy
    and to all who "think" it got hot.. i leave my computer to download a 400 mb file all night. so whole night the modem was connected to cpu and it got just a bit hot. (its normal as this much hot is also when we connect it for 20 min. so no worries, connect it for 20 min or 20 hours..

    This low price offer I think is available mostly in AP.
    In chennai I checked few days back with my freindly aircel dealer. Around rs 1400. I doubt they will sell low in Bangalore.
    But even in ebay not less than Rs 1250.
    It is worth buying only Huawei e1750 which is easily unlockable .
    Micromax 352 G is also sold by Aircel with free data offer which is not easy as Huawei 1750 to unlock.
