    Please mention

    1. Your budget ?

    2. How much GB data you will be needing per month ? What will be your mode of use ? Just browsing and VPN ? Or planning bandwidth intense activities like watching YouTube videos, audio streaming, video / audio chat etc ? Are you planning to use utorrent or direct links to download ?

    3. How much speed would you prefer ? Any minimum limit ?

    4. Will you be travelling away from town /city ?

If within city, you can use 3G from BSNL or any other provider. Other options are 2G SIM (very cost effective and available at almost all places), BSNL EvDO, Reliance Netconnect, Tata Photon + etc.

I am amazed by your selection of sub forum to post. You would have got a few more responses if posted in mobile broadband section.

I believe getting an Airtel 3g sim card would suit you although data charges are pretty high but then you dont have to buy a seperate device or anything if you already have a smart phone that is capable of tethering using wifi or even cable.

If you are going to use a lot of data transfer then go for a reliance netconnect broadband plus usb modem which has a 18gb data plan for Rs3000 and is valid for 6 months and out of all the mobile broadband providers this one is the cheapest per GB price and Reliance coverage is not bad either.

I would strongly advice against BSNL because I have never been able to stay connected on BSNL for long as connection keeps dropping every now and then for some reason although this might be a local issue in the states of Punjab, MP and UP.
