Default Options for SIM Card while international roaming

    Hi,

I will be visiting singapore, malaysia, thailand & cruise for which I require SIM Card. My main requirement will be bbm & email which should work properly on fix rates without based on usage.
Also for incoming & outgoing calls the charges should be minimum and should be comparable to local charges.

Matrix provides such sim here which has all the above facilities. How is service of matrix and anybody have experience with matrix ?
What are other options available. Is getting local sim card after arriving is feasible and easily available ?

    Regards,

Since you are going to spend max 10 days in all countries combined, see whether matrix bought in India will work every where and check price for incoming and outgoing and mb/data usage.

At singapore airport arrival near the money changer/information counter, you can buy a Singtel prepaid sim for Sing$28 . If you buy after reaching city (not airport) Get M1 pre paid sim card .S$30.
Incoming is not free even in local (singapore)

But calling to India is quite cheap (same as calling from India or even cheaper)

Singtel/M1 card will work in Malaysia too (check at the counter roaming charges in Malaysia/ Thailand)

expect to spend around S$ 50-100 minimum during your stay to keep in touch with mail and incoming/outgoing calls .

Singapore airport Wifi is free but you have to go information and show your passport and ask for the password. While landing/departing you can use the free wifi.

Many places in sing/malaysia/thailand have free wifi. wherever you can get away with free wifi, try to make the best of it.

    Hi Ravi,

Don't use any mobile services while on a cruise. It's highly advised not to because, the charges shoot up exorbitantly. I would suggest that, you use a Matrix SIM card, not only does it save 80% of your roaming cost but you can also use your data pack on iphone and blackberry. Check their services and tariffs on www[dot]matrix[dot]in International SIM Cards, Prepaid & Postpaid SIM Cards, 3G data card- Matrix and also mail them at info[at]matrix[dot]in & marketing[at]matrix[dot]in . They are also quite quick in responding.

    Thanks
