Default To 3G or not to 3G

    Hi,

I have a 3G Android phone coming in a few days, I can't make sense of the tariff plan for any of the companies in India.

Now my usage will be light, as I do my downloading on my laptop or on wifi at home.

My usage will be regular (not everyday) email checking and sending the odd mail and attachment, sometimes with photo's attached.
Gps will be used often and the occasional bit of surfing.

Not interested in video calls, that's what skype is for.

As far as I can decipher these tariff plans, there is no mention of the cost of voice calls or text messages.

Currently I use around 300-500 minutes of calls and max 100 text messages a month.

Not interested in post paid, currently I am on Vodafone, coverage is good here, bsnl and idea suck for the most part here, this is for 1g.

    any pointers would be appreciated.

Make maximum use of wifi while at home. You need gprs/3G only when yoo are out side home.

since you are in pre paid vodafone, recharge Rs 98 gprs pack.voda gprs @180-220 kbps is one of the best gprs.

The phone is HTC Wildfire A 3333
Most of my use will be browsing and email, GPS/Sat nav is more important to me, not really sure how that works on a phone?
What about voice calls/normal calls is this included with the 3g thing?
I'm fairly happy with vodafone, but what about 3g, can I use 3g from for example Docomo and voice calls from Vodafone?
How does it actually work over here? abroad it seems much more simplified.
