Default Sim Card and USB dongle for 3G service

Could someone help me with a few queries with respect to using a USB Dongle on the PC for internet connectivity?

    1) Is there any difference in the bandwidth/speed when we use a 2G sim or a 3G sim card?

    2) Apparently there are two types of dongles

    (a) One in which the sim is integrated with the dongle
    (b) One in which we can insert any sim into the dongle

Is there any difference in the bandwidth/speed for these two types of dongles?

    3) The Airtel site says that there are two models of dongles available:

    (a) E153 with HSDPA 3.6 Mbps, chipset QUALCOMM MSM6246
    (b) E1731 with HSDPA 7.2 Mbps HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, chipset QUALCOMM MSM6290

Will there be a difference in speed in the two models if I use a 2G sim card?

In other word, what will be the bottleneck the type of sim card or the model of the dongle?

    Thank you.

Normally data cards supplied by ISPs are locked. ie, you cannot use third party SIMs until you unlock it. There are two types of modem CDMA and GSM. 2G SIMs has a maximum speed of 144 Kbps where as 3G comes around 3 Mbps. If you do not plan to change connection buy modem from Airtel as they come cheap. If not get a modem from open market and use 2G or 3G SIM.

Will I get the same speed fwith a 2G sim card (3G enabled) on both models (high end and low end) of dongle modems, say Dlink or Micromax?
