Default Datacard heats up while plugged into router

I have a datacard connection at home and its plugged into a wifi router. Becase there are alot of internet users at home the router is kept on 24/7. I have recently noticed that the datacard gets very hot, its not warm or slightly hot, but very hot. This maybe normal because its plugged in all the time into the router, but I have only noticed it now.

Does anyone elses datacard heat up a lot?

Should the datacard be this hot or not if plugged into the wifi router all day and all night long?

The Datacards get little warm or very hot depending on the duration you use it. In your situation, I guess it's normal if it's plugged in 24 x 7. Which wi-fi router are you using for the data card?

If your Datacard is within the Warranty period, let it remain hot until it expires. LOL

    Nice idea!

    I use a Belkin N300 wireless router.

I think I will also try to turn it off for a while. Once its cool then turn it on and see in an hour how hot it is.

Any special instructions to set up a datacard with the router or just plug n play?

Let us know about your experiments with its hotness. I got my Tata Photon + dongle replaced when it was within warranty. It was getting hot and not working properly. Not sure it was because of the high temperature. The replacement does get hot too but I guess little less than the previous device and hasn't given me a problem since past 2 years or so.

If your datacard is not working properly too, get it replaced straightaway!

I cant quite remember, but I think it was just plug and play router.

Just saw this thread and remembered about checking if it still gets as hot!!! Will update soon!
