Default 3G mobile internet service at Chaukori and Munsiyari

I have tried contacting the hotels I have booked but the information does not seem to be reliable atall as they are more interested in getting the booking then worrying about what a customer might need when they get there.

I was wondering if any one knows of a 3G mobile network that works at Chaukori and at Munsiyari. I have been told that Idea works well at Munsiyari but there is no 3G. There is BSNL network at Munsiyari but they dont seem to have 3G either. I would appreciate if someone has first hand information on these two places.

It would be great if we could have 3G networks at all tourist places in India in the near future and people like me wont be wondering what to expect when they get there. In case I dont get a reply I am going to take an idea sim card, MTNL which works on BSNL network and a vodafone and an Airtel sim card but I would be well pissed if none of them have 3G there.

My stopover was at Mukteshwar and bsnl 3g and airtel 3g works well but depends where you are staying. If you have both then I am sure you will get good signal strength on one of these networks.

Second destination was Binsar and there is no 3G network there but Edge works fine on bsnl , airtel and idea.

Chaukori is the same as Binsar. We stopped over for a short break there.

    Munsiyari :
At Munsiyari again there is no 3G network but edge is working very well. Speed on airtel hoes beyond 150kbps and thats all I need really. Bsnl and idea work on edge too but with bsnl I keep loosing cobnection every now and then so I am not using it anymore. Both idea and airtel edge work equally good.

I found out today that Vodafone EDGE also works at Munsiyari as a fellow tourist staying at the same hotel has been using it.

I confirmed with the locals and they say there is no network that provides anything better then edge speed. There is a cyber cafe in town which is about 2 mins walk from the taxi stand and every one knows about it so finding your way wont be a problem. I did not go there so cannot comment on what sort of connection they have and if they let you use your own laptop or not but from experience at other remote areas they would most probabbly allow you to use your own laptop using their LAN cable.

I will write a detailed post once I return back to Delhi about Munsiyari, Binsar, Kausani, Chaukori and a few other places that I visited on this trip.
