Default Sharing Data Card connection via router - RT-N16 - Need help!

    Hi everyone,

I have a D-Link DWM-156 A7, a BSNL 3G SIM and an ASUS RT-N16 router (which has two USB ports).

I am trying to share my internet connection with my family but it just isn't working. The data card shows up as a 3G device but that's pretty much it.

Anyone done it yet? I have also tried TomatoUSB and DD-WRT firmware for this and this doesn't work with any of them.

    Please help!

    Thanks!

Can you please double check these :

    Location : India
ISP : BSNL if it is available in the drop down menu and if not what did you select.
APN : Used to be "bsnlnet" I am not 100% sure.
Dial number : Used to be *99# You might want to double check that.
User name and password (Please find out from BSNL
USB Adapter : Try picking "D-Link DWM-156" A7 is not listed in there. If this doesnt work select Auto.

Click on Apply and your router should reboot and you should have a working network. Please check using a LAN cable to see if the connection is up and running if the wifi thing is giving you trouble.

It is early morning and I am sure I must have missed something important. Please feel free to add. I will have a good look after Ive had some coffee

Tried this. Didn't work. Also tried with DD-WRT and TomatoUSB. Finally gave up and used an old unlocked Airtel branded Huawei E1731. Working perfect with TomatoUSB. I really wanted the D-Link one to work though.

    Have you tried it?

I don't have a Dlink USB modem. I have been using ZTE MF668A Which I bought with a Reliance SIM and was locked to Reliance network and had to unlock it but it has been working fine on two different routers. Dlink routers do have issues with other USB modems I know that but a Dlink USB modem not working on another brand's router was unheard of. You have tried Tomato as well and to be honest I would give up aswell after doing all this. It does make me uncomfortable thinking why would it not work though. Does it work fine when you plug it straight into your laptop or computer and use the client that came with it?
