    This is somewhat pointless.

Best cell phone service provider, varies from State to State and Region to Region. For example, in Maharashtra, iDEA is the best and Airtel is the worst - simply because Airtel was the last to get a license in MH and hence the best places for towers were gone. Also by that time, people realised that value of their property for leasing to tower construction. Hence the early birds really got a killer deal.

Now that roaming fees do not apply and roaming call charges are almost same, it makes no difference. So go for the best in your state/area. If low cost is the primary motive BSNL CellOne is the best but signal strength is rather poor.

I used airtel for some time and found it to be the best mobile service I have ever used but then I had a huge billing issue with them and since then I stopped using them and have been using mtnl mobile

Other wise if airtel gets its act together when it comes to billing then airtel is the best mobile service provider in my opinion.

I think Airtel is a good service provider, like Admin my cousin faced the same problems regarding billing issues!

But overall the signal strength of Airtel is the best, i have also heard that vodafone is really good too and their call rates are the best, so yet to try vodafone!

IMO for Delhi Airtel is good... In Maharashtra idea & vodafone are good... with idea having slight advantage in service... In Bihar reliance is the winner... but bsnl has larger customer base...

I think both Airtel and Vodafone are good. I have used both. Once the call centre guy from Airtel activated some download offer even after I said NO. Simply to increase his numbers he made me pay a few hundred rupees.

I have been using one Airtel connection for the last 10 years and a Reliance CDMA for the last 6 years. Have also used Vodafone, Idea, MTNL at different times.
From my experience, in terms of pure coverage, voice clarity, data accessibility and pricing I find Reliance to be on top.

one may not ever get the best answer in this respect... cause we INDIANS are quite loyal to the brands that we use.. but looks like the scene is changing but still when you ring up he customer care of just any service provider you have to wait alot or get someone stupid answering to your call or bad mannered guy/girl with foolish answers (as ask the local bsnl officer. for ex..)

but i must white list some cos. idea, airtel, uninor, reliance gsm, tata (all brands) these are some consistent guys in the market, others are just fooling the masses..

@sarath, You should look at the dates of these posts. Docomo did not exist then and the thread has been dead for quite a long time.
