There is stiff competition in the mobile telecom industry to provide attractive and cheap plans to customers . Call charges have come down after docomos per second billing plan . but now it looks like sms charges will almost be free. sms which already is the cheapest way to communicate will now be cheaper .
Relaince virtually started it all introducing the 1paisa per sms (local and national) for a Rs 11 per month or unlimited sms at Rs1 a day . Airtel is also offering unlimited local sms for 33 per month.
Tatadocomo had this 60p charged for first sms and 100 sms free after that but now it is offering 200 sms free for no chages at all.

This will not really affect the service providers as it is revealed that cost of sending an sms is only a fraction of a paisa, but will definitely benefit the customers
Not long before all operators adopt to the 1p per sms plan or better freee sms with no charges whatsoever !
