Thread: Mobile to pc internet "EZ GUIDE"

For those people who want to use their mobiles as Internet modem:
don't want to buy costly Internet connection:
just want an internet connection regardless speed
don't download too much.

1. a Mobile phone with EDGE/3G (don't get confused, check it online if a phone has edge or can be used as modem) Most of them are those mid-range mobiles starting above 2,500/- from Nokia, for others refer to concerned sites.

2. data cable(for pc) one can do internet even using bluetooth available on laptop. (*data cables are sometimes free and sometimes are purchasable, they usually don't cost must. Just go to a nearest electronic shop and ask him a Chinese MP4 player data cable, check if it goes inside and comes out easily, thats it..purchase it for not more than 30/- data cables are nothing special inside, a fake one wont ruin your phone and an original will just make you lose cash )

3. PC suite (software required to make your phone work as modem)available with your phone/downloadable from website of the mobile co. for free.


So now its just done.. When you have all the above things before your hand, lets start building a mobile driver(makes your mobile recognized by your pc/laptop)..

Install the PC SUITE software on your pc (check your Nokia pc suite version ). After installation the PC Suite must ask for a new mobile. Click the next option. As the program runs, link your mobile to the pc. Select PC suite Mode and check if your computer recognizes. You will see how your mobile's driver are installed.
You will see Modem, USB STORAGE, OBEX, FTP, drivers being loaded on your computer.
Now you will see that your computer is now recognizing your phone as a modem/device. If it doesn't restart the computer and do the above methods again.

Open the PC SUITE(it must be already opened). You can see that all the details are shown. Your phone messages, contacts, notes etc. You will see an icon with the web/internet written or a graphic with the www/web. Click it. Check your network settings before connecting. Go inside configuration networks and check the list of operators available. You will see the desired option available ( for ex. Airtel Delhi) click it and click connect to internet.


As soon you click, the network will authorize your phone for connection to internet.
Now open Google.com on Internet explorer, and the rest you already know.

The mobile will be connected to the www in mere 5 seconds if the network/modem is not busy. If it doesn't connect, open your mobile's back cover. Take out the sim for a minute. Plug again, and do the steps as mentioned above., If problem persists call your respective customer care..


Notes for the first timers:

NOKIA 1680 , NOKIA 2600C DON'T SUPPORT DATA CABLE, YOU MAY USE THEM WITH LAPTOP AS BLUETOOTH DEVICES, FOR THESE TWO NOKIA MODELS JUST DO THE ABOVE STEPS BUT TAKE YOU CONNECTION AS BLUETOOTH IN PLACE OF DATA CABLE.


Most 3000/- and above phones don't allow more than two ftp downloads at one time. For more use Download managers like IDM, Download Manager plus etc.
