Guide To Port Out Smoothly : Assume you wanna port from A to B.
Note :
Prepaid users will be ported out in 1st or max 2nd attempt.
Postpaid users will have a tough time. Yet follow these steps it will help.
Step 1: Sms PORT<space><your number> to 1900. You will instantly receive a reply from 1901 with a UPC code which is valid for 15 days. Go to the store of B and apply there they will help you. They will give you a new SIM.
Step 2 : Wait for 4 days. On 5th day ask for status to A and B both. It takes max 7 working days. Mostly is done in 5 working days.
Step 3 : You will receive an SMS stating the Porting Date & Time. Insert Your New Sim at that time. If it doesn't start, wait for an hour or max two and re-insert. Mostly it should start. As soon as you get B's network, A's SIM will get deactivated. Crush it and throw and enjoy your new service!
During this process, you will be called again and again by A offering you cheap rates and all stuff so that you stay with them. REJECT all! Dont accept even by mistake! They are unreal you will never get them. And remember, B will be giving you benefits as good as A for coming in their network!
If by chance porting is rejected! :
Go to A's store and ask them the reason. Tell them to lodge a complain and tell them you wanna speak to A's clearing house direct and tell them frankly that you know they have rejected purposely.
You will get a call from the A's clearing house within 48 hours. They will offer you cheap rates and all stuff REJECT ALL! Don't fall in that they are just fooling you. They will never give you any benefits and then porting will be even more difficult. And remember, B will be giving you benefits as good as A for coming in their network!
They will tell you to reapply! Do the above procedure again and your number will be ported!
They might also say it was an error just re-apply, still tell them you want to talk to their clearing house. Till you don't talk to the main authority, they will keep rejecting. So lodge a complain and talk to the head and resolve it and then re-apply for porting.
Some Things To Keep In Mind :
No Issues/Complaints/Requests should be pending. Check with A about it.
Please deactivate all your packs/schemes/VAS before applying! Your SIM should be the way it was when you has bought it new!
Postpaid users, please pay all outstanding bills, unbilled amount and also pay 100% more of your previous bill amount for porting smoothly.
For Eg : If you get a bill of Rs. 500 usually. And your unbilled amount is Rs. 400, then pay Rs. 500 + 400 + 500 = Rs. 1400. Don't worry you will get all extra money back (except in Reliance cause they are thieves). Please only use phone for urgent calls and SMS and very less!
Prepaid users wont have to pay anything. Just keep a balance of Rs. 10 always in your account. And not more than Rs. 15. So porting with prepaid is very easy.
Postpaid users can 1st migrate to prepaid and then apply for porting. But you will have to wait for 90 days before porting after converting to prepaid if you do this!
If you follow the above then none of the reason's given for rejection are valid. They will give an reason like ' your in contract, no. is under legal procedure, UPC code is wrong, your in lifetime plan etc. Igonre the reason they are just excuses and ask them to do what I stated above.
Telcos like Reliance don't even give you the UPC code even if you SMS end no. of times. But the code is generated as it is generated by government. It's just your service provider blocking it. Go to your current operator (A), ask them to tell you the code and see in their computer whether the code is correct or no. Then apply.
UPC code is valid for 15 days. Don't apply after 10th day. Wait for it to get expired then ad generate a fresh code! Or else it will get rejected!
Eligibility For Porting :
You should have used your no. with the current operator for atleast 90 days.
Your number is not in a legal matter or case.
You have no outstanding amount to pay to the company.
You can apply for porting in the same circle only. i.e. A Mumbai customer can only apply for porting in Mumbai circle.
You can re-apply with the same UPC code. UPC code is valid for 15 days.
You should not be in any special plan / contract.
There should not be any ownership change request pending on your number to be ported.
Porting request may get rejected if any pre-requisites are not fulfilled. Talk to your operator for further clarifications.
If you’re an employee of a company and number is a part of any Corporate plan then too you can port your number. All you need to do is, give a written application along with NOC from your corporate authority.
All this is from my personal experience of porting 5 numbers successfully! If you need any help, post here! I will help you. ALL THE BEST!

One more reason why they reject.
Something they also activate new schemes/plans purposely and reject your porting saying 'you have activated new schemes/changed plan.
Stay calm. Go to A's store, tell them to deactivate the plan and do the same thing I stated above i.e. tell them u wanna speak to A's clearing house head!
It's just that once you speak to the head, they then accept your demand and then won't harrass you. Till then they will keep harrassing you!
Prepaid users speacially with a usage of Rs. 350 and below are ported easily in 1st attempt without any harrassment. Users with high usage are a little harrased sometimes.
All postpaid users with any usage are harrassed always and highest!
Remember, when you speak to them, your tone should be Strict but not rude! But very very firm! If they reject more than once, you can go out of your limits and create a scene in their store! Blackmail them that you will post it in the newspaper and spread rumours everywhere! They will bow to your demand!
