Default MTNL and BSNL may be closing down

MTNL and BSNL are both government owned telecom companies and these two companies attract a lot of people with their affordable and good services, although their is a lack reagrding customer service but the tariff plans beat al the other telecom companies.

DoT which is the Department of Telecom is thinking of closing both BSNL and MTNL services, as the government are having to deal with heavy losses of the government unit. Which is why maybe BSNL have stopped their unlimited night time plan.

There is nothing final yet, in the mean time we can only wait and see what the outcome will be.

What do you guys think should MTNL and BSNL services be closed or be given another chance?

Wonder why BSNL is suspending so many services lately. I dont really know whether BSNL or MTNL should be closed, I mean there are other service providers as well, but one plus point of MTNL and BSNL is that they are much cheaper than private telecom companies.

MTNL and BSNL must never be closed accoding to me.. Still in the country most of the people use their services, though the quality of connection varies from place to place but due to their cheap prices their users keep on increasing... In rural areas BSNL is the lifeline.. MTNL works extremely well these days in delhi especially the places i know there quality has increased from what it used to be 5-6 years ago.

I dbout if they get closed two things might happen either other telecom services increase their rates or decrease thm depending upon their benifits..

I saw in the news to increase the net profit both these companies were goin to merge next year but it would be bad if they close down.

I dont think these two service providers won't be close down as there are far too many customers. There would also be too many problems especially for places where only BSNL or MTNL is available.

There was some merger news but that was a few months ago after that nothing was heard. I really hope BSNL dont close down, I have a BSNL EVDO connection which has been working like a charm, better than any other connection.

Apparently the losses which BSNL has incurred is in crores!

It would be good if the two merged together, there maybe better tariff plans and service.
